CONTAINS OVER 520 SEISMOLOGY JOURNAL ABSTRACTS ON EARTHQUAKES AND SEISMICITY

FOR PACIFIC RIM NATIONS OF NEW ZEALAND, CHILE, JAPAN, UNITED STATES, AND CANADA.

WITH SPECIAL PORTIONS ON NORTH  AMERICA INCLUDING THE GREAT LAKES, THE SOUTHEAST

UNITED STATES AND THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.

THERE ARE ALSO FILES ON THE PLANET MARS, AND THE EARTH'S MOON.

PLUS IMPORTANT EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS, SEISMICITY, AND PAST EARTHQUAKE LINKS.

THIS WEBSITE'S EDITOR WAS MOTIVATED BY AN EARTHQUAKE THAT STRUCK THE EVENING OF MAY 3rd 1996 IN GRANITE FALLS, WASHINGTON. I WAS SITTING AT MY DESK WHEN A MAGNITUDE 5.1 EQ SUDDENLY STARTED SHAKING OUR TWO STORY HOUSE. MY FAMILY AND I SUDDENLY WERE RIDING THE ANGRY BULL AND I HAD NO IDEA HOW BAD IT WAS GOING TO GET.EVERYTHING WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND WE JUST HAD TO RIDE IT OUT,AFTER 12-15 SECONDS THE SHAKING STOPPED AND WE ALL EMERGED UNHARMED BUT RATTLED! I HAD FAILED TO PREPARE MY FAMILY AND HOUSE FOR AN EARTHQUAKE AND DID NOT GIVE THEM ANY WARNING OF ITS COMMING. I DETERMINED THAT THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN AND I IMMEDIATELY DROPPED ALL MY ASTRONOMY RESEARCH AND BEGAN RESEARCHING EARTHQUAKES THE FOLLOWING TEN YEARS. THESE FILES ARE A RESULT OF THIS EFFORT. DO NOT ASSUME THAT YOUR AREA WILL NEVER HAVE AN EARTHQUAKE. EVERYONE EVERYWHERE SHOULD LEARN AND UNDERSTANDING OF SEISMIC HAZARD AND EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS FOR THEIR AREA. THERE ARE MANY POSSIBLE SOURCES OF HELP FROM EARTHQUAKE RESEARCH GROUPS AND GOVERNMENT EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCIES. MOST OF THESE GROUPS HAVE WEBSITES FOR THE PUBLIC TO USE. BEST WISHES TO ALL WHO INVESTIGATE THESE FILES. I BUILT THEM FOR YOU. -TERRY BACON
